Laminar Pro - Image Editor App Reviews

From what I gather from other users the most recent update killed much functionality, this explains why the app was a big disappointment to me... Always read the reviews *before* buying! oops... Hopefully the dev will update it again soon and make it the app it used to be!

This app was the best last year, but at the beginning of the year its been acting really crashy, so until the developer starts updating my rating will remain

Its the best photo editor i found in appstore.

It does a lot and I generally like the program however it crashes after editing 3 or 4 photographs. Im running it on an ipad2.

Can you add an option to skew layers?

Lots of potential but worthless since I cannot access events. The only photo app that Ive seen that will not access events! Huge mistake.

UPDATE: This app has some issues that need to be addressed! I thought that the issues that I was having before was because of the iPhone but they are present also on my iPad Air. The brush engine is horrible compared to other apps such as Photogene4. I may have to tap several times before a brush mark appears! This occurs on both the iPhone and iPad versions. Very irritating and keeps me from doing any serious retouch work on my devices. Ive had issues with the layers acting weird and working in unexpected ways. Some may have had better success than me but using this app has been an exercise in patience! I hope that the developer looks into these issues however Im removing this app and going to see about getting a refund. Original review: This app is alright. Has layer support and some things are fairly easy to use. However the app needs to have the healing brush ability. It is not found in the current version. Theres a clone stamp tool but not healing brush. I also find it weird that certain things in this app are "rendered". Like text and the brush tools. This app will have a place on my device but it wont take away from my number one app I go to for editing.

Needs a pixelate/paint area feature! Theres no rectangle select tool, and no way to adjust just areas of a photo without doing very complicated layer editing. Lasso tool would be great too, but maybe that is too complicated.

I love this application but many times it crashes and if you have transparent layers they will no longer be transparent... Also is there a way that this opens psd files and not just exports as psd files

As I was browsing one of my "Apps Gone Free" applications today I came across Laminar Pro listed as being free for today. Truth be told, I didnt really need another image editor as I already have quite a few well-functioning, powerful photo editors on my iPad. Yet, even though I was fortunate to be able to acquire this application, free-of-charge, I can now say that I would have been happy to pay the full asking price after seeing how wonderfully this photo editor functions. The app offers a lot of the standard image editing options, lighting, saturation, contrast, etc. but I found they were presented in a very useful way and there is an abundance of these types of parameters to tweak. I was also very excited and very impressed with the Mask feature of this application. This feature made being able to remove the background from one of my photos just so incredibly easy and powerful using either the Brush, the awesome Magic Wand or the Lasso tool. When I used the Magic Wand tool it only left just a tiny amount of unwanted background left for me that I easily erased using the Brush tool. I was also really happy that I could tweak the size, strength and opacity of all of these masking tools. That is a feature that I have found a surprising number of background-remover applications leave out of their apps repertoire. Even though I feel the application deserves the five stars that I have given it, I found it is not without a few tiny flaws. Actually, the only thing that I found that was a bit perturbing was that I experienced a small amount of lag when switching between different sets of tools and features. I really like the different bevy of FX that this app offers. But, I found that when switching between the different effects available that the app would lag between my choices. I did not find this small annoyance to be enough of a problem to where I didnt think the app did not deserve five stars, though. So, overall as I said in my review title, I am very impressed with all that this photo editor has to offer. Your experience may vary or differ from mine. But I would gladly recommend this app to other users and as I mentioned I would gladly pay the usual asking price knowing what I know now about Laminar Pro. Many thanks to the developer for offering this app, free-of-charge, for today and for all of the hard work and effort that must have gone into building and maintaining this application.

Laminar is a great photo editing App!

This is quite a robust and thorough program for editing photos. I like it a lot. One feature that is lacking, you need to jump to your photo collection every time you want to edit one picture. You need to do this one photo at a time.theres no option to do a batch edit one after another like in the previous iPhoto application. If The developers add this function or feature as in Adobes light room on the desktop or the iPhoto application I will change my ratings fom four-star to five start. Otherwise thanks for the thorough application.
